JBS, the global meat company, has announced plans to invest $135 million in the construction of a state-of-the-art sausage production facility in Perry (IA).
The new facility is expected to produce 130 million pounds of sausage annually. It will initially operate with one shift and 250 staff, with plans to expand to two shifts and double the workforce. Subject to approval, the project will generate 500 direct jobs.
Commenting on the move, JBS USA CEO Wesley Batista Filho said: “Perry represents everything we value in a community: hard work, strong producer roots, and people who understand the importance of feeding America. This investment underscores our commitment to rural America and our confidence in the strength of the U.S. market. We plan to be a long-term partner for Perry and, if approved by the community, the facility will help foster job creation and economic stability in the region”.
Construction is expected to start in late 2025 and the plant is projected to be operational by the end of 2026.
