Izzio Artisan Bakery, the US-based wholesale bread producer, has opened a new 150,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Thornton (CO) to meet rising national demand for sourdough products.
The expansion increases the company’s total production footprint to more than 250,000 sq ft across two plants, including its existing site in Louisville. The Thornton facility is nut-free and SQF Level 3 certified, featuring state-of-the-art equipment designed to produce pan breads, baguettes and boules. This growth supports the national rollout of the company’s new Organic Artisan Sandwich Breads, a six-variety line including Ancient Grains and Sprouted Seeds.
Izzio Artisan Bakery chief commercial officer Sara Kafadar commented: “We’re encouraged by the strong growth that led to the opening of our second Colorado manufacturing location. Even more meaningful is that this growth signals rising consumer demand for real sourdough made the right way”.
Founded in 1994, Izzio specializes in long-fermentation breads using locally sourced, traceable flour. The brand’s products are currently distributed in more than 15,000 retail locations across the USAs. This expansion follows a period of significant investment, including a $55.9 million funding round in August 2025 to support its capital projects and strategic vision.
