US retailer Coborn’s has announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Sullivan’s Foods grocery stores and other retail units in Illinois, expanding its operations to a new state.
According a report in Progressive Grocer, the deal includes 11 grocery stores, one convenience store and fuel centre, three hardware stores, one central office and a warehouse. The purchased stores will continue to operate under the Sullivan’s Foods banner.
Commenting on the acquisition, Chris Coborn, Coborn’s chairman and CEO, said: “We look forward to extending the same operating philosophies in these locations that have made us successful for 102 years – investing and training for our people, supporting our communities and investing in our stores to improve the experience for our guests. We look forward to having the entire Sullivan’s team join our team to learn more about their operations and communities”.
The deal is expected to close in early May. Upon completion, Corborn’s will have a network of 77 grocery stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, Michigan and Illinois.
