USA: Brothers Desserts to acquire Schoep’s Ice Cream

Brothers Desserts, a US company behind brands such as Natural Choice, Absolute Fruit Sorbet and Brothers Ice Cream, has announced the acquisition of Schoep’s Ice Cream, a family owned ice cream company, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1928 , Schoep’s Ice Cream started on the back of a Wisconsin grocery store. Today, the company produces over than 12 million gallons of ice cream annually, available across theUnited States.

“We are a family run business, so when we heard of another family run business that was struggling and in receivership in Madison, we jumped at the opportunity”, said Brothers Desserts founder and CEO Gary Winkler.

“We have been in the ice cream industry for forty-eight years, so we like to think with all of our experience and knowledge we can turn things around at Schoep’s”, he added “We look forward to continuing the tradition of Schoep’s and creating new opportunities”.

According to the company, the acquisition is in line with its intention to expand to the Mid-West.
