B&G Foods, the US-based ambient and frozen foods firm, has announced a revamp of its Green Giant line-up with the “aim to make it easier for today’s health-minded consumers to add more veggies into meals”.
Among the new lines being launched are Green Giant Veggie Tots, “the kid-friendly, mom-approved alternative to potato tots and French fries […] filled with vegetables such as cauliflower or broccoli instead of potatoes”. Sold in 16oz bags, the product comes in Cauliflower, Broccoli, and Broccoli & Cheese varieties.
Elswehere, the company is launching other products positioned as vegetable alternatives to high-carbohydrate foods such as rice and potatoes. Green Giant Riced Veggies are said to have 70 to 85% fewer calories per serving than the leading brand of prepared white rice, while the firm’s Mashed Cauliflower is promoted as “a great-tasting alternative to the typical potato side dish”.
The final item in the new line-up is Green Giant Roasted Veggies, “offering the great taste of roasted vegetables without the hassle of roasting and cleaning up”.
The refresh of Green Giant comes approximately one year after B&G Foods acquired the leading vegetable brand from consumer goods firm General Mills.
