Roberts Bakery, the family-owned bakery business, has announced plans to shut down its site in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, resulting in the loss of 38 jobs.
The Derbyshire site closure comes after Roberts Bakery announced plans to cut 250 jobs at its factory in Northwich, Cheshire earlier this year.
The Ilkeston site was opened in 2010, focusing in particular on speciality breads and morning goods.
Commenting on the move, a Roberts Bakery spokesperson said: “The decision follows a comprehensive review of the company’s product portfolio, overall footprint and long-term business strategy. While the Ilkeston site has contributed significantly to the Roberts business over time, the review has concluded that the site is no longer aligned with the company’s future plans”.
