Izico, the Dutch manufacturer of frozen snacks, is strengthening its position in the UK with the acquisition of vegetarian food producer Goodlife Foods.
Goodlife Foods markets a range of frozen vegetable-based products, including vegetarian ready meals and meat-free sausages and burgers. The firm supplies both retail and food service channels and has been operating for over 25 years. According to the company website, Goodlife Foods “source[s] the healthiest vegetables from the finest farmers in the UK to create nutritious vegetarian meals”.
Izico said that the deal for Goodlife Foods “confirms the organisation’s strategy to develop their UK business going forward and to cement their position as a leading supplier in their chosen categories”. Izico made its first significant move into the UK market last year with the acquisition of frozen food firm Daloon.
Commenting on the move, Izico UK commercial director Jez Threadgold said: “The Goodlife Brand perfectly compliments our existing Meat Free business and we look forward to driving further growth in this exciting product category with both existing and new customers. The growing awareness of frozen food quality and the rise in demand for vegetarian products leaves us perfectly positioned to fulfil consumer’s needs, not only in the UK but also throughout Europe”.
