Fuchs Gruppe, Germany’s leading manufacturer of herbs and spices, has announced it has acquired Bart Ingredients, the UK’s second largest seasonings maker, for an undisclosed sum.
The Dissen-based firm said that acquisition of Bart Ingredients would advance its internationalisation strategy and significantly boost its position on the UK market.
Based in Bristol, Bart Ingredients produces a range of spices, seasonings and ingredients, including a range of seasonings under the Levi Roots name. It recorded revenue of over £25 million ($33 million) in its last financial year and employs more than 180 staff.
Commenting on the deal, Fuchs Gruppe CEO Nils Meyer-Pries said: “The acquisition of Bart Ingredients is an ideal means for us to broaden our portfolio and our footprint and, in line with our corporate strategy, we now have a presence in one of Europe’s most important markets. Our conversations with Bart Ingredients have demonstrated that, in terms of our people and philosophy, our two companies will be a superb fit”.
