The International Food Exhibition (IFE) – the UK’s largest event for the food and drinks sector – returned to London’s Docklands towards the end of March for its 2015 outing.
Vowing to be “back bigger and more innovative than ever before”, the show welcomed a total of 1,350 food and drinks companies, showcasing both “the world’s largest collection of UK products” and a diverse range of international goods, with exhibitor companies drawn from more than 50 countries around the world. The promise of “a melting pot of global flavours, trends and specialist goods” lured an estimated 30,000 industry professionals from the retail, foodservice and manufacturing sectors through the doors of the ExCel convention centre over the four days of the event.
Touring the pavilions of IFE, it was apparent that a number of the food and drink innovation themes that have held sway in recent years – namely ‘healthy snacking’ and protein enhancement – continued to be central to the product development strategies of many of the companies exhibiting.
