Belgian biscuit and cake manufacturer Lotus Bakeries has announced an expansion in Thailand, with a new manufacturing plant for the Biscoff brand.
According to the company, the plant is intended to increase capacity in the Asia region, as well as improve response times to local trends and reduce transport costs.
Thailand was chosen due to its central location in the region and the availability of raw materials and strong industry, Lotus Bakeries said. The plant will be built in the Chonburi province, which is a part of the so-called Eastern Economic Corridor, developed by the Thai government. The corridor also has access to the nearby international port of Laem Chabang.
The project will start within the next few months and the plant is expected to be operational by 2026.
