Portuguese retailer Jeronimo Martins has acquired five stores from Piotr iPawel, a competing retail chain of delicatessen and supermarket stores operating in Poland. The acquisition sees Jeronimo Martins pursuing its strategy of expanding outside Portugal. The opportunity arose at a time that Piotr iPawel is reported to be experiencing financial difficulties.
