Scan Sverige, a subsidiary of agrifood cooperative Lantmannen, has announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Lindvalls Chark, a company specialising in sausages and charcuterie sourced from Swedish farms.
Founded in 1925, Lindvalls Chark was previously part of the Norwegian Jordanes Group, having been acquired in 2017. The company has an annual turnover of approximately 400 million SEK ($38 million) and makes roughly 8,000 tonnes of sausages each year at its production facility in Stromsnasbruk.
Commenting on the deal, Lantmannen group president and CEO Magnus Kagevik said “The acquisition of Lindvalls complements Scan Sverige’s existing business and brands in an excellent way. Lindvalls is a well-known company that is now becoming fully Swedish again. For Lantmännen and our members, Swedish farmers, the acquisition is yet another investment in Swedish food production and in strengthening long-term conditions for Swedish agriculture”
Scan Sverige MD Lars Appelqvist added: “Scan Sverige is already a established and having one of the strongest and broadest ranges and offerings on the market when it comes to Swedish meat and charcuterie. Our acquisition of Lindvalls will further strengthen our position, not least in the convenience area – and with their expertise and well-reputed brand, we further our access to a flexible and customer-oriented organization”.
