Spanish retailer Mercadona has made an investment of €60 million ($58.5 million) in its logistics platform in Riba-Roja del Turia, Valencia.
According to an article in Revista Inforetail, the resources will be used to optimise and modernise its warehouse for fresh produce in the logistics centre. With the investment, improvements will be made in the centre’s processes, facilities and working conditions
The warehouse will see an increase in production capacity from 23,000 to 40,000 sq m, in addition to the efficiency, technology, and sustainability improvements that will also be made.
The company plans to start works during the first half of 2023, and will involve around 130 suppliers and 800 employees during the construction phase, which is expected to last approximately two years.
