BM, the Spanish supermarket chain, has announced the launch of a new brand called Bertako Baserrietako Esnoki Froskoak (Bertako) under which it will begin to sell high quality artisanal dairy products.
All the products in the new Bertako line are described as being made using a traditional method and with the milk of Laxta sheep, a traditional Basque country breed that is an important source of raw materials for the local dairy industry. The aim of the new brand is both to provide a high quality product and to reinforce BM’s commitment to local production, the company said.
The Bertako range of products, available in the dairy section of most of the company’s stores in the Gipuzkoa region, consists of a total of 10 products which include a variety of natural yoghurts (with and without fruit), curd cheese, milk and several kinds of craft cheese.
