Spanish food and beverage producer Angel Camacho has announced the acquisition of Macarico, a Portuguese firm that manufactures sauces and antipasti.
In a press release, Angel Camacho said the deal was part of the firm’s “satisfied customer and consumer” plan, in which Portugal and Brazil are considered strategic markets.
Founded in 1930, Macarico is a family business with two factories located near Aveiro. Its portfolio includes pickled vegetables, olives oil, olives and sauces, in particular piri-piri. The product line is geared to export, and the company currently has distribution in over 50 countries.
“This purchase allows Angel Camacho to expand and diversify its product and market portfolio, especially by enabling it to enter new categories such as sauces, pickles, and lupin seeds, products that are complementary to those which Angel Camacho already sells”, the company added.
