Swiss manufacturer of chocolate and cocoa products Barry Callebaut has signed an agreement to acquire Inforum, a Russian manufacturer of chocolate, coatings and fillings, where financial terms were not disclosed.
According to sources, the acquisition will help Barry Callebaut’s to expand its presence and production capacity in the Russian market, where the company operating in its facility of Chekhov since 2007.
Founded in 1989, Inforum operates a facility in Kasimov employing 300 people who will be transferred to Barry Callebaut as soon the deal will be completed.
Commenting on the deal, Barry Callebaut CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique said: “We are delighted to join forces with such an established, locally engrained Russian company. Inforum’s heritage and local knowledge, combined with our innovation capabilities and international experience, will reinforce each other’s strengths”.
