Nobre, a Portuguese meat products firm, is expanding into the burgeoning meat substitute space with a line of imitation meat products under the Nobre Vegalia brand name.
Products in the Nobre Vegalia range are said to be targeted at the “flexitarian community” – typically consumers who are not vegetarian but who are looking to reduce their meat content. Based primarily on egg white, the product lineup is claimed to be vegetarian as well as free from gluten, lactose, soy and artificial colours.
Three varieties of the new deli-meat style products are available: with Asparagus, with Mediterranean Herbs and with Vegetables.
Claiming to feature “0% meat, 100% flavour”, Nobre Vegalia is now available in supermarkets throughout Portugal, presented in pack of 100g with a retail price of approximately €2.59 ($3.06).
