Waitrose and Auchan have signed an agreement which will see the French-based retail group begin to sell Waitrose brand products in six Auchan stores across Portugal, Talking Retail reports.
The agreement will see over 100 private label Waitrose groceries and chilled products made available in six stores in Lisbon and across the Portuguese region of the Algarve.
David Morton, Waitrose business to business director, commented: “We are excited to be continuing our expansion throughout Europe by bringing Waitrose products to Portugal, an incredibly popular destination with British holiday makers and expats, alike”.
In 2013, Waitrose export sales grew by almost 30%, and the British retailer now exports to over 50 countries around the world with a presence in every continent. “We continue to look for opportunities to further increase our international offering,” Mr Morton added.
