Migros, the leading Swiss retailer, has announced plans to sell its meat alternative brand SoFine to The New Originals Company, a leading European tofu producer.
Founded in 1963, SoFine makes tofu and soy-based products and has a manufacturing site in Landgraaf, Netherlands. It specialises in organic, and GMO-free products under the SoFine and ProLaterre brands, as well as producing for private label brands. The company serves Germany, Finland and the Benelux region.
Commenting on the deal, Matthew Robin, CEO of Migros subsidiary Elsa Group, said: “SoFine and The New Originals Company are a perfect match. This sale provides SoFine with specialized support that will reinforce its future success”.
The New Originals Company CEO Matthias Krön added: “We are very pleased to be expanding our expertise in the long term with the new location and highly qualified employees. With SoFine, we are expanding our portfolio to include established and popular plant-based products, particularly in the convenience segment, and are developing the entire category in a targeted and innovative way”.
