Japan based dairy specialist Yukijirushi Megmilk (trading as Megmilk Snow Brand) has announced an investment of ¥20 billion ($180 million) into its Isobunnai plant in Hokkaido, Japan, with work to be completed by 2020.
The plant, positioned as a leading butter, cream and skimmed milk facility in Japan, was established in 1960 and is said to require upgrading and expansion. As a result of the new investment, the plant will have a total floor space of 29,000 sq m, up from its current 6,000 sq m, across the 58,832 sq m site.
According to a press release, the main aim of the new investment is to increase production efficiency in butter manufacture by adding new buildings and new machinery, including automation, in order to reduce production costs and to improve and strengthen the manufacturing process.
