Clessidra, an Italian private equity fund, has announced the acquisition of Molino Nicoli, a family-owned manufacturer of baked goods for an undisclosed amount, according to Just Food and Montenapo Daily reports.
Founded in 1869, Molino Nicoli produces organic and gluten-free breakfast cereals, baby snacks, and cereal bars under the Vitabella brand for the US and European markets. It also manufactures private-label products including muesli, granola, oat flakes, snack bars, and baby food snacks such as puffed corn.
Commenting on the acquisition, Clessidra managing director Francesco Colli said: “We will identify suitable targets in the main markets to accelerate the expansion path already outlined, which has the aim of building a leading platform in the growing market of health products, with a strong emphasis on quality, traceability and clean label”.
It is reported that the Nicoli family will retain a 30% stake after the acquisition.
