Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR, the Italian private equity firm, has acquired a majority stake in Alimenta Produzioni, a manufacturer of traditional Italian baked goods and flatbreads.
Headquartered in Riccione, Alimenta Produzioni specialises in piadina romagnola and pinsa, a regional flatbread segment that now accounts for 30% of its turnover. The company, which operates three production facilities in Emilia-Romagna and Marche, reported revenues of approximately €50 million ($58 million) in 2025 and employs 265 people. The acquisition was completed through the Fondo Italiano Agri&Food (FIAF) vehicle.
Under the terms of the deal, Alimenta’s founder and CEO Valter Baldacci will retain a significant minority stake and continue to lead the business. The partnership is intended to support international expansion and the development of innovative product lines, such as the Altograno range of high-protein flours.
Pier Felice Murtas, senior partner at Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR, commented: “Alimenta represents a solid industrial platform with a distinctive positioning and significant growth opportunities, particularly in international markets”.
