Hindustan Unilever (HUL), the Indian arm of Anglo-Dutch multinational Unilever, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a 90.5% stake in beauty brand Minimalist for 2,955 crore INR ($354.6 million), with plans to acquire the remaining stake in two years.
Founded in 2020, Minimalist is described as a rapidly growing digital-first beauty brand offering clinically tested skincare, haircare, and body care products. It has reached an annual revenue run rate of 500 crore INR ($60 million) in four years.
Commenting on the deal, HUL CEO and managing director Rohit Jawa said: “We are delighted to welcome Minimalist into the HUL family. This acquisition is another key step to grow our Beauty & Wellbeing portfolio in high-growth premium demand spaces. Mohit, Rahul and the team have created a great brand built on science, product efficacy and transparency”.
Minimalist founders Mohit Yadav and Rahul Yadav added: “We founded Minimalist to introduce a transparent Indian beauty range that’s trusted and loved on a global scale. We’re incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve received in India. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
