India biggest dairy co-operative Amul Dairy has announced a plan to build an ice cream plant in Khed City with an investment of RS 120 crore ($18 million).
“Pune is our largest market for Amul ice cream and currently there is a supply shortage. We wanted a quick set up in and around Pune, and obviously, Khed City qualifies as our preferred destination”, Amul Dairy K Rathnam said in a statement.
The new facility will occupy around 11 acres of land in Khed City, one of India’s emerging townships in Pune district and is expected to be operational in 12 to 18 months. The plant, which has a capacity of 600,000 litres per day, will also produce other dairy products alongside ice cream.
