Reinert and Kemper, two of Germany’s largest manufacturers of sausage products, have announced they are to merge to form the second biggest meat processor in the country, with annual turnover of more than €700 million ($767 million).
Named TFB The Family Butchers, the newly-created company will offer customers a wide portfolio ranging from value lines to premium branded products, and will bring together Reinert’s expertise as a brand manufacturer with Kemper’s specialism in private label, the companies said
The combined firm will employ 2,600 staff and operate across nine production sites, they added.
Commenting on the deal, Reinert CEO Hans-Ewald Reinert said: “We are required to find answers to the challenges facing the sausage and meat category. This merger will prepare us for the demands of the future, creating a strong company that will be competitive on a sustainable basis”.
