German confectionery manufacturer Katjes has announced the acquisition of the indefinite European rights to the cough drops marketed under the Wick brand from Procter & Gamble.
Wick – known outside of Germany as Vick’s – is the world’s largest brand for cough and cold related products with more than €1 billion in global turnover worldwide, according to a Katjes press statement. The acquisition relates exclusively to Wick cough drops, which are primarily marketed in Germany, Scandinavia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain, and covers all of Europe excluding Russia.
Katjes managing partner Tobias Bachmüller stated: “We are looking forward to this new endeavour, especially given the unique nature of the Wick brand and its Europe-wide reputation. In addition, Wick cough drops are mostly sugar-free, something that has been missing from our confectionery range.”
