MANCHESTER – 28th October 2015: This month, the Gama Innovation Award – Product goes to Ametller Yoligur Yoghurt With Olive Oil, which has been launched in Spain by Casa Ametller.
Ametller Yoligur is a new yoghurt range that aims to capture the “intensity of flavour and freshness that evokes for us the essence of the Mediterranean” through a formulation based on olive oil, which is claimed to give the product a creamier taste. The range comes in a number of Mediterranean-inspired flavours including persimmon & peach and fig & thyme.
Gama editorial director Tom Warden commented: "Casa Ametller is taking a multi-faceted approach to the ‘Mediterranean’ theme, combining health, indulgence and innovative flavour. According to the company, the oil is used to replace the saturated fat present in milk, creating a creamy texture and 'unique flavour' without the addition of cream or other enriching ingredients".
"Ametller Yoligur taps directly into the supposed health benefits of the Mediterranean diet and provides an interesting counterpoint to the now ubiquitous Greek yoghurt".
