Casino, the French retail giant, is launching a new convenience stores concept focusing on organic, gourmet and locally sourced products.
Launched under the Franprix Noe banner, the new concept is already available through two stores recently opened in Paris that are said to be aimed at meeting the needs of urban consumers.
Casino said that the new stores offered a range of organic products, cheese and meat counters, freshly-baked products, as well as shelf-stable items sold in bulk with reduced packaging, and household products in reusable containers.
Commenting on the move, Casino CEO Jean-Charles Naouri said: “Noe was born of new uses and needs of the inhabitants of the metropolis. The customers were the ones who invented it and Franprix gave it life. That’s why this unique concept is perfectly adapted to the urban life of today”.
The retailer also pointed to a focus on responsible consumption, supporting local agriculture and industry, animal welfare, responsible fishing and the environment.
Franprix CEO Jean-Paul Mochet said: “Our job is to provide the public with an offering that allows them to be sure of the origin of the products they buy, and move towards more responsible consumption”.
