Rema 100 Denmark, part of Reitan Retail, has agreed to acquire the majority of German discount grocer Aldi’s grocery store network in Denmark.

According to the company statement, Rema 100 will acquire 114 stores and three distribution centres in attractive locations which will help the company to accelerate growth and increase market share with high-quality products at low prices.

“Rema 1000 Denmark has been a fantastic growth story, demonstrating the scalability and growth potential of our business model,” says Reitan Retail CEO Ole Robert Reitan. “The agreement with Aldi is an important step in Reitan Retail’s strategy to strengthen our position, renew and develop our portfolio and contribute to sustainable and profitable growth,” he says.

The transaction is subject to approval by Danish competition authorities.
