Bavaria, local AB InBev brewer, has announced the investment of $413 million in the construction of a new brewery in the municipality of Palmar de Varela in Colombia.

The brewery plans to begin operational by mid-2024 expecting to generate 350 direct jobs and 7,000 indirect job. The facility will produce beer brands such as Aguila, Poker and Club Colombia.

“We firmly believe in Colombia and in the great transformations that the private sector can generate for the benefit of the country,” said Bavaria President, Sergio Rincon. “With this new plant, Bavaria is investing long-term on a significant expansion of the industry.”

According to company’s press release, the brewery will be built to high environmental standards to meet AB InBev’s ambitious 2025 Sustainability Goals. The facility is expected to operate with zero net carbon emissions and brew 100% of its products using solar energy.
