Valeo Foods, the Irish food firm, has announced the acquisition of Appalaches Nature, a Canadian maple syrup business, marking its second acquisition both in North America and in the maple syrup sector.
Founded in 2018, Appalaches Nature is a supplier of maple syrup to European, Canadian, and U.S. markets, operating from a 100,000 sq ft facility in Thetford Mines, Quebec.
Valeo Foods also acquired Les Industries Bernard & Fils in 2022 and has since increased the business by 30%, the company said in a statement. Following the acquisition, it intends to combine Appalaches Nature with Bernard & Fils, and use synergies and complementary manufacturing capabilities to facilitate accelerated growth.
“This will enable it to significantly increase production capacity to meet growing customer demand and to facilitate further expansion across Europe and internationally,” the company noted in a statement.
