Maple Leaf Foods is said to be shaking up its management structure following the sale of its 90% owned Canada Bread bakery business, which is expected to close late 2014.
According to The Globe and Mail, the company has announced a new chief operating officer as well as a new chief financial officer, who will both take over after the closure.
Just Food reports that the company intends to boost the profitability of its branded packaged consumer meats business with President and CEO Michael McCain of Maple Leaf Foods saying that “these changes will support that future by consolidating multiple layers of management into a streamlined, responsive and integrated structure”.
While it did not announce the number of jobs to be cut, the company did add that the “transition” to a “new organisation” focused on consumer meats would result in a “number of changes” in the executive line-up.
