Canada-based cheese and butter producer L’Ancetre has announced the acquisition of Fromagerie Le Baluchon, a local cheese producer for an undisclosed sum.
Based on the Quebec region, Fromagerie Le Baluchon is a producer of organic cheese, most well-known for its winning-award fine cheese Baluchon.
According to sources, this acquisition will allow L’Ancetre to “diversify its production, maintain its leadership position in Canada and in the manufacture of certified organic dairy products”.
Pascal Desilets, CEO of Fromagerie L’Ancetre, said: “With this acquisition, L’Ancetre is pursuing its strategic development plan in terms of diversification and positioning in its product category, while preserving the local know-how and promoting Quebec organic milk”.
“The organic dairy processing sector in Canada is booming and our company fully intends to maintain its lead by proposing innovative solutions to cope with the increasing opening of Canadian markets to cheese imports”, added Desilets.
