Canada-based cheese and butter producer Fromagerie L’Ancetre has announced the acquisition of Fromagerie Le Baluchon, a local cheese producer, for an undisclosed sum.
Based in the Quebec region, Fromagerie Le Baluchon is a producer of organic cheese, said to be most well-known for its fine cheese Baluchon.
The acquisition will reportedly allow L’Ancetre to diversify its production and maintain its leadership position in Canada, as well as in the manufacture of certified organic dairy products.
Pascal Desilets, CEO of Fromagerie L’Ancetre, said: “With this acquisition, L’Ancetre is pursuing its strategic development plan in terms of diversification and positioning in its product category, while preserving the local know-how and promoting Quebec organic milk”.
“The organic dairy processing sector in Canada is booming and our company fully intends to maintain its lead by proposing innovative solutions to cope with the increasing opening of Canadian markets to cheese imports”, he added.
