UK crisp manufacturer Tyrrells Crisps has acquired the Melbourne, Australia-based Yalla Valley, a producer of natural, organic and gluten free snacks. The company has the backing of Investcorp, an investment company.

The acquisition aims to speed up Tyrrells’ expansion in the Australian market a year after  the launch of the firm’s hand-cooked crisps range.

“This acquisition demonstrates that we are serious about international expansion for the Tyrrells brand. Our hand-cooked crisps have been extremely well received in Australia”, commented David Minler, chief executive at Tyrrells.

He also said that the company would invest in Yalla Valley’s manufacturing capabilities to make it the first company’s manufacturing facility outside the UK.

No additional details have been released and the amount of the transaction has not been disclosed.
