Bega, the Australian dairy firm, is moving into the nut butter category with its acquisition of a Kraft Heinz facility in Victoria.
According to the firm, the packaging will be “slightly ‘refreshed'” to feature the Bega logo.
“Despite the label change, Bega assures Australians that the Peanut Butter they love is exactly the same… the same ‘never oily, never dry’ recipe, the same taste, made by the same people, at the same factory”, Bega said in a statement.
Bega’s move into peanut butter comes as the firm seeks to diversify away from an intensively competitive dairy market. Australian Food News reports that the company bought an extensive portfolio of food brands from multinational Mondelez in January, including the savoury spread brand Vegemite, salad dressing brand ZoOSH and beef extract brand Bonox.
