Walmart, the USA-based retail giant, has opened its third owned and operated milk processing facility in Robinson (TX).

The new facility represents an investment of over $350 million and will create more than 400 new jobs. Sourcing directly from local dairy farmers, the site will process and bottle options including whole, 2%, 1%, skimmed and chocolate milk for the company’s Great Value and Sam’s Club Member’s Mark brands. According to the retailer, the operation will supply more than 650 Walmart and Sam’s Club stores across the south-central United States.

John Laney, executive vice president, food at Walmart US, commented: “The opening of our new facility in Robinson, Texas, will help us deliver more of what our customers want – fresh, affordable food and quality they can trust”. He added that the site would “bolster our capacity to meet the demand for high-quality milk, make our supply chain more resilient, while increasing freshness by reducing the time from dairy farm to shelf […]”.

The launch follows Walmart’s investment in its first milk processing facility in Fort Wayne (IN) and a second facility in Valdosta (GA), which opened last year.
