Spain: Paulig invests €12 million to expand production in Barcelona

Paulig, the Finnish food company known for its Tex-Mex, snacks and world foods portfolio, has committed to invest €12 million ($14 million) at its plant in Berga (Barcelona) to install a new flour tortilla production line.

The move responds to rising global demand for Tex-Mex products and is intended to reinforce the strategic importance of the Spanish facility within Paulig’s European supply network.

According to the company, the new line will be installed within existing factory premises, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2026.

Paulig CEO Rolf Ladau said: “This investment in Spain not only increases our production capacity but also supports Paulig’s vision of being a shaper of popular food culture, as we continue to expand our Tex Mex offering in Europe”.

The expansion is expected to create around 30 new jobs over the next five to six years.

The investment comes on the back of a broader growth strategy: in 2024, Paulig announced a planned €42 million investment to build a new savoury-snacks facility in Spain, with first production scheduled for 2026.
