Endeavour Group, which claims to be Australia’s leading retail drinks and hospitality business, has announced it has reached an agreement with global alcoholic drinks firm Moet Hennessy to acquire winemaker Cape Mentelle Winery.
Located in Western Australia’s Margaret River, Cape Mentelle Winery was established in 1970 as one of the founding five wineries of The Margaret River, and is described as being the pioneer of many of the wine styles from the region.
Commenting on the acquisition, Endeavour Group CEO and managing director Steve Donohue said: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Cape Mentelle to the Endeavour Group and Paragon Wine Estates families and to see it continue to grow on a global scale, while giving more people across Australia access to its fantastic range of wines”.
Cape Mentelle will join the Endeavour Group’s Paragon Wine Estates, which features a portfolio of premium wine brands from Australia and New Zealand.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
