The Argentinian arm of US retailer Walmart and Mercadoni, a leading online shopping platform, have announced a partnership agreement enabling online orders to be delivered faster, according to a report in America Retail.
According to sources, the agreement allows orders in the city of Buenos Aires to be delivered within two hours of being placed.
Fernando Rubirosa, associate director of e-commerce at Walmart Argentina, said: “The pilot scheme that we have launched today in the city, together with our new partner, will allow us to gain flexibility, coverage and speed in the way we deliver more than 10,000 products from our stores. This will be a further opportunity for our customers to continue saving money and improve their experience so they can make their purchases when they want, how they want and wherever they want ”.
Walmart customers can access the new service by making a purchase through their iOS or Android app, as well as on Mercadoni’s website, receiving their order at a time of their choosing.
The alliance comes as Walmart continues to explore new options in global grocery e-retail, particularly in response to competition from emerging players such as Amazon.
