Canada-based Indian snack food manufacturer Surati Sweet Mart has established its first manufacturing and distributing site for specialty snacks and baked foods in the US.
Surati has announced it is spending $16 million on the new 240,000-square-foot facility and expects to generate over 100 new jobs.
“Our location in Springfield would be our first manufacturing investment in the United States and will allow us to serve our North American growth”, said Surati operations director Shalini Sheth. “The Springfield community is the perfect strategic location for us to locate and expand our operations. It’s simply a community that wants our investment and has worked with our leadership to make it happen”.
Founded in 1942 and headquartered in Toronto, Surati has a portfolio of 400 products including cookies, snacks, biscuits, frozen snacks, frozen flatbread, frozen vegetables, pickles, and sweets sold under the Surati, Shalini and Golden brands.
