US wine firm E&J Gallo has announced plans to build a new $423 million production facility and distribution centre site in Chester County, SC, to support future business growth.
The new plant will provide bottling and canning capacity, as well as warehousing and distribution, for the company’s portfolio of wine and spirit brands. Construction is set to begin immediately and is expected to create 496 new jobs over the next eight years.
The new South Carolina facility will allow E&J Gallo to better meet customer demand on the US east coast while reducing its overall carbon footprint, the firm said. The site is located near the Port of Charleston and will also serve as a hub for import and export.
The first phase of the project on track to be completed in October 2022.
