German discount retailer Lidl, has announced the opening of the new regional headquarters and distribution centre in Cecil, Maryland with a cost of $100 million.
With 700,000 square-foot, the facility will create 200 new full-time jobs and it will supply Lidl stores in 5 states.
CEO of Lidl US, Johannes Fieber said, “The facility will allow us to efficiently deliver our award-winning products to thousands of customers from Maryland to New York and support our expansion across the region”.
“Maryland is proud to support Lidl’s new regional distribution centre, which will create 200 new jobs when they are needed the most and enable the company to more efficiently deliver their high-quality products throughout the region at a time when demand is at an all-time high” commented Larry Hogan, Maryland Governor.
Having opened its first store in the US in 2017, the German retailer has now 100 stores opened across the country.
